Melvin Guillard went out on a high note.
The 22-time UFCveteran announced his retirement following a 27-second stoppage of Terry Wiggins at a Ragin’ Fighting Championship event in Lake Charles, Louisiana, this past Saturday. That snapped a 12-bout winless streak for “The Young Assassin.”

“It’s that time,” Guillard said in a post-fight interview. “I have well over 200 fights and it’s been a great run, but I’m ready to do something else.”
Guillard also addressed his decision in a statement on his Facebook page.
“Went out the way I came in, just as I manifested,” Guillard wrote. “It’s been [an] amazing career. Will always go out on top of the world. For all my HATERS I appreciate your HATEFUL WAYS. Alll love……YA OUT!!!!!”
Guillard Enjoyed Run of Success During UFC Tenure
The 42-year-old Guillard exits the sport with a 33-24-2 mark. A cast member on Season 2 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the Louisiana native competed in the UFC from 2005 to 2014. He enjoyed his greatest success in the Las Vegas-based promotion from 2008 to 2011, winning seven of his eight Octagon appearances to emerge as a contender in the lightweight division. He went 12-9 with one no contest in UFC competition overall, besting the likes of Dennis Siver, Gleison Tibau, Jeremy Stephens and Evan Dunham during his promotional tenure.
Guillard also fought for organizations such as Bellator MMA, World Series of Fighting and Rizin Fighting Federation during the latter half of his career. He also tried his hand at bareknuckle boxing in recent years, compiling a 2-6 mark in that discipline.
