Pimblett’s gym, Next Generation MMA Liverpool, hosts an annual Brazilian jiu-jitsu last man standing contest called King of the Mat. “The Baddy” was undefeated in the contest for four to five years, sharing the winning prize with Matty Holmes in 2025.
However, Pimblett’s dominant run finally ended in this year’s finals. Pimblett’s final opponent was his teammate, Aaron Jordan. Pimblett tapped out to a calf slicer from Jordan, who is a BJJ black belt. Jordan won a prize of 1,500 pounds, which will be donated to charity.
Pimblett (23-3) is scheduled to fight Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title in the main event at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas. Pimblett is undefeated in seven UFC outings with notable wins over Bobby Green, Michael Chandler, and Tony Ferguson. Meanwhile, Gaethje (26-5) is 3-1 in his last four outings against elite competition.
