Namajunas took on Silva in a flyweight bout on the main card at UFC 324 last weekend in Las Vegas. Both fighters went back and forth in a rather underwhelming affair marked by a lack of intent. Namajunas eventually came up on the short side of a unanimous decision, which many believe could have gone either way.
Emotional Moment
Namajunas subsequently met with her fans backstage to sign autographs. The former UFC strawweight champion had an emotional breakdown and started crying in front of her fans. In a heartfelt gesture, fans tried to comfort “Thug,” while some also told her that she won in their eyes.
Owner of a 3-2 record in her last five appearances, Namajunas has sandwiched a win against Miranda Maverick between losses against Erin Blanchfield and Silva in her last three outings. The 33-year-old could have likely been on the cusp ofa run for the title with a win over Silva.
