Watch Deiveson Figueiredo submit Tim Elliott, securing title fight at UFC Norfolk

Deiveson Figueiredo will finally get a shot at the UFC flyweight title when he squares off with perennial contender Joseph Benavidez at UFC Fight Night Norfolk on Saturday, Feb. 29. Watch his most recent victory, a submission finish of Tim Elliott from last October, ahead of Saturday’s championship headliner in Virginia.

Benavidez has been permanently etched at the top of the leaderboard for years, failing twice to wrest the flyweight belt from the waist of former champion Demetrious Johnson, who has since moved on to ONE Championship.

Figueiredo, because of one circumstance or another, has also remained near the top of the list, but has never gotten the shot at the belt. He’s defeated nearly every other top contender save for his lone loss to Jussier Formiga and having never stood across the cage from Benavidez.

That will change in Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 27 main event when he finally gets a crack at Benavidez and the belt that both men so highly covet.
