Charles Oliveira Wants Retirement Fight Against Max Holloway for BMF Title

Charles Oliveira has a plan in mind after after his upcoming bout against Mateusz Gamrot.

Oliveira headlines UFC Rio against Gamrot on Saturday at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A sizeable underdog going into UFC Rio, Oliveira is definitely not looking past Gamrot. However, “Do Bronx” wants a title fight next, whether it be for the lightweight title or the BMF title. Oliveira believes fans would love to see him fight the BMF champion, Max Holloway. The Brazilian also revealed that a BMF title fight will likely be his last fight.

Oliveira: Everyone Would Love to See Holloway Rematch

“First is winning this fight,” Oliveira told Shakeil Mahjouri. “And fighting for the title, whether it’s BMF or the title of the division. This is a great fight that will propel me towards the title… Everyone would love to see [the Max] fight, and I want this to be my last fight.”

Oliveira won the lightweight title in 2021 and defended it once before losing the belt on the scale. After going 2-1 in his next three following a loss to Islam Makhachev, Oliveira received a shot at the vacant title against Ilia Topuria, as the UFC was upset with No.1 contender Arman Tsarukyan. Oliveira was brutally knocked out by Topuria at UFC 317 this past June. Meanwhile, Gamrot is 4-1 in his last five, only dropping a split decision against Dan Hooker

Holloway won the BMF title with an iconic buzzer-beater knockout win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 last year. “Blessed” than moved back down to featherweight to challenge Topuria and suffered the only knockout loss of his career. Holloway has since rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Dustin Poirier in “The Diamond’s” retirement fight.
