Islam Makhachev’s teammate, Magomed Zaynukov, is tired of fans calling him by the wrong moniker.
Zaynukov earned a UFC contract on Tuesday with a unanimous decision win over Lucas Caldas on the Dana White’s Contender Series. “Wild Chanco” landed a total of 248 significant strikes, which would be a lightweight record if it were an official UFC outing.

Zaynukov subsequently addressed confusion regarding his nickname. Zaynukov first became famous when Makhachev introduced him to Demetrious Johnson as a two-time muay thai world champion, “Chanco.” However, people somehow mistook his nickname for “John Pork,” much to Zaynukov’s dislike. The Dagestani prospect urged fans to stop calling him “John Pork” and use “Chanco” instead.
’John Pork is a Cartoon Pig’
“No John Pork. Chanco,” Zaynukov said at the Contender Series post-fight press conference. “People get a little confused between ‘John Pork’ and ‘Chanco.’ ‘John Pork’ is like a cartoon pig. I’ve said so many times, it’s not ‘John Pork,’ it’s ‘Chanco.’ So people don’t get confused, so the fans that support me understand I’m not ‘John Pork,’ I’m ‘Chanco.’ If possible, please don’t call me that. I don’t like it.”
Zaynukov is now 8-0 with five knockout wins.
