Cory Sandhagen is an absolute sport following his UFC 320 loss to Merab Dvalishvili

Sandhagen challenged Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title in the co-main event at UFC 320 last Saturday in Las Vegas. Dvalishvili executed his signature game plan, landing 20 takedowns, the most ever in a UFC title fight, to earn a unanimous decision win. While Dvalishvili repeatedly took Sanhagen down, “The Sandman” worked his way back up faster than most of the champion’s previous opponents and also hurt him on the feet.

After rewatching the fight, Sandhagen believes he could have won had he not been rocked in the second round. While Sandhagen admitted that Dvalishvili mostly dominated the affair, he noted that he had his own moments. Sandhagen congratulated Dvalishvili on the victory and also called the Georgian a good face for the division. Sandhagen continues to believe he will be a champion someday.

Sandhagen: ‘I Will Be Champ’

“I watched the fight last night because I can’t sleep,” Sandhagen said on social media. “That’s an absolutely winnable fight; I just have to not almost get knocked the f—k out in the second round. Congrats to Merab. Almost did what he said he was gonna do, but not quite. So good on him. He is a good face for the division; I’m proud of that dude. I absolutely still believe in myself that I will be champ.”

Dvalishvili is now riding a 14-fight winning streak. Meanwhile, Sandhagen is 1-2 in his last three, with the win coming via an injury stoppage.
