Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather was big business in 2017. | Rosie Cohe/Showtime
Conor McGregor hasn’t given up on his UFC White House dreams.
McGregor recently called out Floyd Mayweather for an MMA matchup at UFC White House in June. McGregor later hinted that he was just teasing Michael Chandler, who has long been awaiting him. However, McGregor also believes he could beat both Mayweather and Chandler on the same night. “Notorious” believes he can finish Mayweather in 10 seconds in an MMA fight.

“Fun times [Dana White], [UFC]! [Floyd Mayweather], when you are ready for that promised MMA bout, I am here,” McGregor wrote on X. “The White House is nice in the summer I heard. Just kidding Mike! Although… I could fight both the same night. Floyd MMA? EASY. 10 seconds.”
McGregor (22-6) suffered a stoppage loss in a crossover boxing match against Mayweather in 2017. While there were vague plans of an MMA fight between the two, it never came to fruition. Many believe the financial success of the Mayweather matchup deprived McGregor of the hunger to fight.
McGregor’s iconic rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov ended with a submission loss for the Irishman in 2018. While McGregor rebounded with a win over Donald Cerrone, he went on to suffer consecutive losses against Dustin Poirier.
McGregor hasn’t competed since breaking his leg in his trilogy fight against Poirier in 2021. The Dubliner has teased a return multiple times and was even booked to fight Chandler at UFC 303 before pulling out due to an injury. Meanwhile, Chandler has been awaiting the McGregor fight for over three years and continues to be hopeful. McGregor is currently serving an 18-month suspension for anti-doping whereabouts failure and will be eligible to compete from March 20.
